In August 2026, a unique commemorative flight will take place from Duxford in the UK to Dęblin, Poland — home of the Polish Air Force University. At its centre is the legendary Hawker Hurricane, flown in tribute to the Polish and Allied airmen who fought with extraordinary courage during the Second World War.
Poland fought from the very first to the very last day of the Second World War — on land, at sea, and in the air across multiple fronts. Although the Allied victory brought freedom to much of Europe, Poland itself lost its independence as the country passed from Nazi occupation into decades of Communist rule. For countless Polish servicemen and women, this meant exile. Many were unable to return home, and those who did risked imprisonment, persecution, or worse.
This project symbolically “brings a Hurricane home” in honour of all those who could never return — whether through sacrifice, displacement, or fear. It stands as a tribute to their courage, their service, and the homeland many were never able to see again.
To make this historic journey possible, the project is raising funds for aircraft preparation, engineering support, fuel, insurance & logistics. Supporters can also take part in a special remembrance initiative: personal messages and dedications will be carried onboard in a commemorative Pilot’s Log Book, which will be presented in Poland as a gesture of gratitude. Donations, social sharing, and submitted tributes all help ensure this important act of remembrance takes flight.
We are committed to this important tribute and thank everyone for their continued support.

The London Victory Parade of 1946 is something of much controversy. Jenny Grant talks to The Society for Army Historical Research (SAHR) with some perspective, fact and detail. It really was not as simple as 'not being invited to avoid offending Stalin' A fascinating talk!
A fabulous video recalling the Opening Ceremony at the Polish Bomber Squadron Centre at the former RAF Ingham in Lincolnshire.
