Between 7 and 12 August 2026, Hawker Hurricane G-HURI made the journey to Poland — the culmination of almost two years of fundraising, planning and dedication.
The aim of the project was always about more than simply flying an aircraft overseas. It was about carrying home the memory and legacy of those who served. We are immensely proud that this part of the journey was achieved.
Sadly, circumstances meant that we were unable to fly on to Dęblin. But the Duxford to Dęblin project is not quite finished — and it will conclude on Saturday 29 August in a fitting and very special way.
Officer Cadets from the Polish Air Force University in Dęblin will attend the annual Polish Air Force Remembrance Service at the Polish Air Force Memorial in Ruislip. Organised by our wonderful Charity Partners, the Polish Air Force Memorial Committee, the service will be followed by lunch at the historic Officers’ Mess at RAF Northolt.
During the event, Hawker Hurricane G-HURI is scheduled to land at RAF Northolt, where we will present the Pilots’ Log Book to the Officer Cadets. A fitting escort for the book — and a symbolic return to Poland of the memories, stories and legacy carried within its pages.
There is still time to become part of this story.
You can leave your name, message or donation on our JustGiving page, and PHF Pilot Dave Harvey will personally add these to the Pilots’ Log Book before its presentation to the Officer Cadets.
The JustGiving page will close at MIDNIGHT on Monday 24 August 2026.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Polish Heritage Flight on this remarkable journey. Your generosity has helped us carry the memory of those who served across the Channel — and, ultimately, home to Poland.

The London Victory Parade of 1946 is something of much controversy. Jenny Grant talks to The Society for Army Historical Research (SAHR) with some perspective, fact and detail. It really was not as simple as 'not being invited to avoid offending Stalin' A fascinating talk!
A fabulous video recalling the Opening Ceremony at the Polish Bomber Squadron Centre at the former RAF Ingham in Lincolnshire.
